Air France has regular flights to Niamey. Domestic flights are also available from Niamey to Agadez, Arlit, Zinder and Maradi. Niamey is well connected by buses but they are expensive. Visitors can share taxis to get around the city though it may be advised to haggle down the prices. The Nigerian climate is hard on cars, the heat and especially the sand play havoc on engines so travelling by own cars must be carefully thought about. Mechanics are very resourceful at repairing cars, but mainly the French ones. Petrol stations are rare along the roads and visitors should try not to get stranded for lack of fuel.
