Visas: Visas are required by all except nationals of Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Chad, Côte d'Ivoire, Denmark, Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, Finland, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Nigeria, Norway, Rwanda, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Togo and Tunisia. Visas can be obtained from the nearest Consulate and are valid for three months. Health risks: Niamey is very hot and visitors are advised to carry a bottle of water to avoid dehydration. The city does not have an efficient garbage disposal system and is loaded with garbage dumps. Visitors may want to take suitable precautions against mosquitoes and related diseases. AIDS is also on the rise though the Government is taking steps to create awareness against the disease.

When To Visit
If visitors do not mind the heat, November through February is the dry season and suitable for travel. The months of July and August receive the most rains.
